On Wednesday June 8th, 2016, at 1pm, I’ll be interviewing Jennifer Messina opens in a new window regarding the adjustment to parenthood for new moms. We will explore how becoming a mom is a profound life adjustment, what can be done in advance to ease the transition and how to improve the adjustment once you bring home baby.

With almost 20 years of clinical and consulting experience, Dr. Messina has supported individuals through a range of transitions from birth of a new baby, romantic break-ups, medical diagnoses, loss of a loved one, navigating complex professional dynamics to making major life decisions. In addition to her clinical work, she has extensive public speaking experience and has worked on the national level on community mobilization and prevention.

A graduate of Dartmouth College (’93), Dr. Messina obtained her masters (’94) and doctorate (’99) degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Messina authors Fig & Birch opens in a new window, a blog designed to be a hub for all things happy, healthy & transformative. She currently has clinical, consulting and coaching practices in Manhattan and Manhasset, NY.
