MD For Moms Radio, Every Wednesday 1pm (ET) on The BBM Global Network, TuneIn and iHeartRadio or as a podcast on iTunes.
This week on MD for Moms, I interview pediatrician, parenting author, twin specialist and mother of four including twin boys Dr. Shelly Vaziri Flais about having twins. Bringing home a newborn is a task unto itself – between figuring out a baby’s sleep schedule, when to feed them, how to get all their laundry done and finding time to shower, it is a wonder that new parents get any sleep at all. Now, double that and it still won’t equal the experience of having twins. Two babies does not just equal double everything – it is a juggling act that is truly bettered by the guidance of an expert like Dr. Flais. This episode, we learn tips and insider tricks that make the first days, weeks and months with twins easier and more manageable.
But, what about after the first year has passed? Dr. Flais explains the types of twins, dispels the misnomers about twins, and reviews how to avoid common pitfalls parents make when raising twins. We discuss how to approach your twins education and what to expect from your twins as they grow and develop. Do twins often like the same sports and activities? Should you push them towards the same things or allow them to choose their interests independently? Is it better to dress twins in the same clothes or not? Should twins share a room? If one twin develops a disease like type 1 Diabetes, will the other? Dr. Flais answers these questions and many more on this episode of MD for Moms. A not-to-be missed show for anyone with multiples in the family!
