MD For Moms Radio, Every Wednesday 1pm (ET) on The BBM Global Network, TuneIn and iHeartRadio or as a podcast on iTunes.
This week on MD for Moms, I’ll be interviewing Dr. Alexis Hugelmeyer about self care and wellness. Dr Hugelmeyer is a board certified Family Physician who began an online wellness program called Balance Before Burnout and also has a virtual practice, DrLexRx, where she helps people address stress and improve their lives through self care. She mixes humor and humility with healthy doses of reality and empowers women to be their best selves.
Our show will focus on self care – what does it really mean to prioritize yourself sometimes? Why are we as women so reluctant to put ourselves first and why is taking time for self care so important in life? We will also explore burnout and how it can be combatted to maximize happiness in every aspect of life.
Have a question for Dr. Alexis Hugelmeyer about self care and avoiding burnout?

Learn more about my guest Dr. Alexis Hugelmeyer:
I am Dr. Alexis Hugelmeyer, but my friends and patients call me Dr. Lex. After ten years of practicing traditional medicine, I am taking your health and wellness into the future!
A board certified Family Physician by training, I spent four years in undergrad at Villanova University, four years in medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and three years in residency at Long Beach Medical Center. I have spent most of my twelve year career in hospital medicine outpatient wellness practice. I have been active in community health education via public speaking, writing and media contributions since I was a medical student in 2001.
When I relocated from NY to NC this past summer, I transitioned my wellness practice into an online health education practice, DrLexRx. The Rx in the name is a natural non-medication prescription for your wellness called TLC, Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes. In this new wellness community, you’ll find the Balance Before Burnout Online Group Wellness Program. Here you’ll receive the education, support and accountability required to activate your health all in the comfortable learning atmosphere of your own home!
In my free time, I love exploring our new town of Chapel Hill, NC with my husband Michael and our three adventurous children Isabella, Lance & Lucia. Photography is my expressive art form. Cooking is how I nourish the bodies and souls of my friends and family. Watching and playing sports while being outdoors is how I relax… Three things I can’t live without: Coffee, kisses and a good wifi signal!
I am honored and privileged to help people around the globe with my innovative, action-oriented approach to finding TRUE wellness. And I look forward to getting to know you soon
